LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR AND FRIENDS
SEND BOOKS NORTH ENDING BOOK DRIVE
TORONTO – To celebrate the conclusion of his 2009 Book Drive, the Lieutenant Governor will be joined by some distinguished friends to load some military trucks with donated books.
“I am very pleased to announce the conclusion of the 2009 Aboriginal Youth Book Drive,”
said the Honourable David C. Onley. “Ontarians have been very generous with their new book donations and have made a tremendous gift to our aboriginal youth.”
The Lieutenant Governor will be joined by his Book Drive partners to speak about the success of the donations before some of the books are loaded onto military trucks. The donated books will be driven up to the First Nation reserves in Northern Ontario.
The 2009 Book Drive began on Tuesday, June 2nd and concludes on Sunday, June 21st – the first day of summer and National Aboriginal Day. Some of the larger donations of new books have been made by Scholastic Canada, DK Publishing, and Bishop Strachan School.
