MESSAGE FROM THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR

ON THE PASSING OF TED ROGERS

TORONTO – I was saddened to learn of the death of Edward Samuel “Ted” Rogers, founder of Rogers Communications.

Although he was internationally known as a cable pioneer and sports entrepreneur, Ted Rogers was also a renowned philanthropist and humanitarian, deeply committed to charitable and not-for-profit work in the community.

Ted and Loretta Rogers were exceptionally generous donors to a range of educational and health-related charities, including University of Toronto, Ryerson University, Toronto General Hospital, and Sheena’s Place. Both also gave countless hours of their time and leadership to the organizations they supported.

I join all Ontarians in extending my deepest sympathies to Loretta Rogers, and to Mr. Roger’s family.
