LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR RECEIVED BY

HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN


TORONTO – The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, had an audience with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II today at Buckingham Palace. Her Majesty met with His Honour for 30 minutes.

It is customary for representatives of the Crown in Canada to meet with The Queen typically during their first year in office.

During his visit, His Honour attended Sunday service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and visited both Houses of Parliament at the Palace of Westminster, where he listened to a parliamentary debate on education.

Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the Throne to become The Queen of Canada on February 6, 1952, and has now reigned for 56 years. The Honourable David C. Onley became the 28th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario on September 5, 2007.
