DONATE A NEW BOOK
FOR ABORIGINAL KIDS IN ONTARIO’S NORTH
TORONTO – The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will outline the details of his book drive collecting new books for aboriginal youth in Ontario’s far north in the Queen’s Park media studio on Wednesday, January 2, 2008.
Ontarians are reminded to buy a brand new book while they’re shopping the sales after the holidays.
“During this special season, I encourage all Ontarians to purchase a book or two for our native youth in Ontario’s northern regions,”
said Lieutenant Governor Onley. “Ontarians donated new books at my New Year’s Levee today and I hope many more books will be contributed before the deadline of January 18.”
As in the past, the books can be dropped at any Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment throughout the province and, within Toronto, at any Toronto Police Services station between Tuesday, January 1, and Friday, January 18.
To assist and encourage Ontario’s aboriginal youth, the Honourable James K. Bartleman initiated two book drives during his term as Lieutenant Governor. Ontarians opened their hearts and bookshelves in 2004 and 2007, and over two million books were collected.
