LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF ONTARIO

CELEBRATES THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE

ROLLOUT OF THE AVRO ARROW

TORONTO – The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will host a private reception on Thursday, October 4, at 10:00 am, for the designers and builders of the Avro Arrow aircraft. This reception will mark the 50th anniversary of the rolling-out of the Avro Arrow in Malton, Ontario.

In honour of this golden anniversary, the Lieutenant Governor will applaud the work accomplished by some of Canada's most brilliant citizens in the creation, design, and building of the Avro Arrow. The Avro CF-105 Arrow was designed and prototypes were built in the 1950s before the project was abruptly cancelled. This plane was recognized as being modern, superior, and on the leading-edge of world aircraft creation.

The Lieutenant Governor applauds the exceptional work of all who were involved with this historical project, which placed Canada at the forefront of aircraft design.
