To request an event message
Across Ontario, many charities and not-for-profit community organizations are celebrating significant anniversaries, hosting conferences and fundraising galas, organizing cultural and sporting events.
The Lieutenant Governor salutes such initiatives by providing written messages of congratulations and support, along with a portrait photograph that may be included in printed materials.
We provide messages for religious organizations, provincial service organizations, as well as community, hospital, and municipal groups. We cannot provide messages for commercial enterprises or businesses, family settlement anniversaries, family reunions, or school graduation classes. We only provide messages to be printed in annual reports for organizations of which the Lieutenant Governor is Honorary Patron. As well, we are unable to send messages to members of volunteer service organizations or charitable groups, as the Ontario Honours and Awards Secretariat already has award programs in place to recognize these individuals.
To request a message for a special event, please complete the Event Message Request Form [PDF, 18.7KB]. In order to ensure that the message will be meaningful and relevant, please be sure to provide comprehensive background information and significant achievements of the charity, not-for-profit organization, and the individual(s) being honoured. Please include your charitable registration number. A proposed text of up to 150 words is also welcomed, but not required. Please allow six weeks for the delivery of the message and photograph after the required information is received.
All event messages will be sent directly to the requestor. As the Lieutenant Governor represents The Queen, and by doing so must remain apolitical, requests from federal, provincial, or municipal officials on behalf of their constituents cannot be accepted.
