The Honourable Lincoln M. Alexander and the Conservation Council of Ontario established this annual award in 1988, to recognize outstanding achievements in conserving and protecting the natural environment in Ontario. Eligible achievements included conservation projects, public education, scientific research and dissemination, writing, artistic creation, leadership within the conservation movement, and leadership within industry. This program was discontinued after 1995.
